These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Open CAV Alliance services, including access to our Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) protocol documentation, standards, and related tools. By accessing or using the Open CAV Alliance platform and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Use of CAV Protocol Services

Open CAV Alliance provides access to standardized communication protocols for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, including the Vehicle Information Service Specification (VISS) and Transport Operator Mobility Protocol API (TOMP-API). These services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that our protocols will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

User Accounts and Access

When you create an account with Open CAV Alliance, you must provide accurate and complete information. You are responsible for safeguarding your account and for all activities that occur under your account. Access to certain protocol resources and features may be restricted based on your subscription or membership status.

Intellectual Property and Protocol Standards

The Vehicle Information Service Specification (VISS) and Transport Operator Mobility Protocol API (TOMP-API) are open communication standards developed under the Open CAV Alliance. These protocols and their associated documentation remain open standards available for industry use. Our website and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Open CAV Alliance and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Protocol Content and Contributions

You retain all rights to any content you submit, post, or display on or through our services. By submitting content related to CAV protocols, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute your content. Protocol contributions and discussions must comply with open standards principles and industry best practices.

Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Use our services in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of our CAV protocol services
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our protocol servers, documentation, or networks

Safety and Responsibility

As users of CAV communication protocols, you acknowledge that these standards are provided for the development of safe, interoperable autonomous vehicle systems. You are responsible for implementing these protocols in accordance with safety standards and regulations applicable in your jurisdiction. Open CAV Alliance is not liable for misuse of these protocols that could compromise vehicle safety or communication systems.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to our CAV protocol services immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including violation of these Terms or misuse of the protocols.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Open CAV Alliance be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use our CAV protocol services. The Vehicle Information Service Specification (VISS) and Transport Operator Mobility Protocol API (TOMP-API) are provided as open standards, and implementers use them at their own risk.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, particularly as CAV technology and regulations evolve. If we make changes, we will provide notice by posting the updated Terms on this page.
